Our Heritage
Founded in 2000 as a strategic joint project with Simba, Pakworks was established with a singular vision: to bring specialized, high-volume snack manufacturing to the local management level. Over the past two decades, we have evolved from a regional facility into a national powerhouse in the food processing sector.
Today, Pakworks is proudly backed by Sakhumnotho Group Holdings, holding an 85% majority stake. This strategic partnership fuels our ongoing operational expansion, enhances our BEE credentials, and strengthens our mission to build agricultural and food-processing scale across the African continent.

Pakworks operates as an exclusive, high-capacity co-manufacturer for PepsiCo (via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Simba). We are trusted with the end-to-end production of some of the most consumed snack brands on the continent.
We operate state-of-the-art extrusion and roasting lines specifically engineered for high-volume output. Our core production portfolio includes:
- NikNaks: Producing the unmistakable crunch and flavour of South Africa’s favourite extruded maize snack.
- Safari Peanut Snacks & Simba Peanuts: Precision roasting and flavour-coating for premium peanut variations.
- Doritos: Supporting the production of globally recognised tortilla chips for the local market.
Food safety is built into the DNA of our Heilbron facility.

- Halaal Certified: Approved by the South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA).
